Executive  Club  Meeting!

Remember a few months back when Sen. Tim Knopp gave us a
rundown on how deep in the swamp Oregon is with PERS debt?
And when Scott Shepard on how PERS might be fixed,
since the Oregon Supremes have admitted error?
Are you fully convinced that PERS is the 900 pound gorilla
present in every meeting in Salem, reminding everyone he's
there by just breathing down their necks?

Seen that gorilla's fingerprints -- no, finger DENTS --
on every piece of legislation, for example the
health insurance premiums "assessment" passed by the
swamp's precious honey badgers, and referred to the
voters as Measure 101 ("NO!" on January 23rd!)?

So, think that's bad enough to warrant stopping that
beast? How about if it's an 1800 pound gorilla, then?

See, our speaker this month has done some deep diving
into the swamp, and he thinks that gorilla is much,
much bigger than Kate Brown and the rest of the nasty
honey badgers have told us.
Allen Alley
Allen Alley
PERS diver
"Oregon PERS: It's the cash flow stupid!"

That's the title of his presentation this Wednesday, the
summation of his experience in business and government,
applied to the massive, hungry zoo animal from Salem.

Allen Alley has been both a successful entrepreneur and
a general partner of one of the premier US venture capital
firms. He is one of the few people who has invested in and
co-founded companies that grew from startups to have public
market capitalizations of more than $1 billion. His expertise
spans software as a service, computer graphics and semiconductors.

Allen is hard to categorize. He is a republican who worked
for a democratic governor. He drives a Smart Car and a Corvette.
He loves cars but also walked 400 miles across Oregon in his
campaign for Governor. He has extensive experience building global
companies and is as comfortable eating tonkatsu in Tokyo, hotpot in
Chengdu, ribs in Cincinnati or Taco Bell in Tualatin.

He manages a very active venture portfolio of technology companies
as well as devoting time to making government more transparent,
efficient and accountable. The foundation of his career is a
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue and design
engineering at Ford and Boeing.

Join us Wednesday night for the details of the mess
the Salem Swampers have made for all of us.
Take notes. There will be a test: 2018 voting.

Submitting Followup Information

Executive Club passes on meeting followup information as a courtesy to our speakers and members. Any member or speaker may submit, by email, a simple update text presentation to be sent to the club mailing list, to give the membership to have more details, or just a recap of your platform presentation. To be considered for publication, please be sure to submit your update within 24 hours of the close of the meeting. Please don't include any pictures in your text, but links to web pages, or links to things stored elsewhere on the web -- .pdf files, Word documents, or even pictures -- are OK now. Formatting and inserted pictures will not be copied, just the text content, so please don't use 4 fonts and 6 colors to convey your thoughts: you will be disappointed. Look at a previous followup email, or the bottom of most of the invitation emails, to see how they are presented. The simpler and cleaner your text, the more likely it will appear exactly the same in the email we send out. Each update must also indicate the author's name and contact information -- either a phone number, email address, or website with contact information. We reserve the right to edit for brevity, or reject, any submission.

From Aaron Withe (503-951-6208), Oregon Director of Freedom Foundation.

The Freedom Foundation is dedicated to removing government unions influence in the political cycle.

This week the Freedom Foundation in Oregon has been "Giving State Workers a Raise." You can find out more on our blog post by clicking here.

Since our move into Oregon in 2015 we have been outreaching to homecare providers to show them how to drop their union membership to SEIU 503. We have also been attending their orientations to let them know that they never had to join. Until now, we have only been able to guess at our effectiveness. The results are in, in two years, we now see that less than 60% of all care providers pay union dues to SEIU. This removes over $400,000 a month from their budget, and their political influence. Read more by clicking here.

I also encourage you to join our e-mailing list by clicking here and filing in our form. This will keep you up to date with all our updates with how we are removing the government unions influence in politics.

Lastly, if you enjoy the work we do at the Freedom Foundation and want to join our fight to remove the government unions influence to politics. I would encourage you to give a tax-exempt donation to us by the end of the year. If you give a gift of at least $25 then it will automatically sign you up to receive out monthly newsletter, the Living Liberty, you can donate online by clicking here.
