Executive  Club  Meeting!
7:00 pm  •  Wednesday December 7th  •  Airport Shilo Inn

OK, how did we get here? What's next?
Yup, it's the 2016 Executive Club post-election-pre-session meeting.

Did y'all get a couple days of rest? Well, that would be good.

Because the battle goes on,

and the public unions won't rest as long as they have command of
dues from the unwilling and the rest of us have a nickel left.

Three legislators are coming, so get your best game on.

Rep. Mike Nearman
Mike Nearman
House Dist. 23
Rep. Julie Parrish
Julie Parrish
House Dist. 37
Dennis Linthicum
Dennis Linthicum
Senate Dist. 28

These three helped keep Oregon from going even bluer than it is.
So, how did they succeed while our confusing state resisted
-- again --
the national move to wonderful redness?

And what exactly are we going to do about that nasty state of affairs?

Julie Parrish was elected in 2010, and has served as Deputy Leader for the
House Republican caucus, is a Vice-Chair for the House Committee on Veterans
Affairs, and a member of the House Committees on Education and on
Transportation and Economic Development. She is a native Oregonian
and business owner, married to (retired) Army Colonel Mark Parrish,
with three sons Max, Tucker, and Gage.

Mike Nearman was elected in 2014, and serves on the joint Ways and Means
SubCommittee On Transportation and Economic Development, the Joint
Committee on Information Management and Technology, and the House
Committees on Consumer Protection and Government Effectiveness as well as
Higher Education, Innovation, and Workforce Development. He and his wife
Debby share an acre outside of Salem with dogs, chicken, sheep, with
enough room left over for Mike's sense of humor and his passion for the
Constitution, Rule of Law, and the American adventure.

Dennis Linthicum is new to Salem, but not to politics: he served as a
Klamath County Commissioner. Outside of political activity, Dennis is a
software engineer, Lifetime NRA and GOA member, rancher, church elder,
husband to Diane for 34 years, and father of two.

Together, they bring a wide view of being a Republican in Oregon.

Join us Wednesday night. Out with the blue, in with the red!

And let's take a moment to remember the 75th anniversary of America's
wake up call to war, the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Submitting Followup Information

Executive Club passes on meeting followup information as a courtesy to our speakers and members. Any member or speaker may submit, by email, a simple update text presentation to be sent to the club mailing list, to give the membership to have more details, or just a recap of your platform presentation. To be considered for publication, please be sure to submit your update within 24 hours of the close of the meeting. Please don't include any pictures in your text, but links to web pages, or links to things stored elsewhere on the web -- .pdf files, Word documents, or even pictures -- are OK now. Formatting and inserted pictures will not be copied, just the text content, so please don't use 4 fonts and 6 colors to convey your thoughts: you will be disappointed. Look at a previous followup email, or the bottom of most of the invitation emails, to see how they are presented. The simpler and cleaner your text, the more likely it will appear exactly the same in the email we send out. Each update must also indicate the author's name and contact information -- either a phone number, email address, or website with contact information. We reserve the right to edit for brevity, or reject, any submission.

From Anne Marie Gurney (503-901-5635), Oregon Coordinator of Freedom in Action.

On November 17th the Statesman Journal published an opinion piece I wrote about the power of SEIU. A detail caught my eye from a piece they published in October where a left leaning group had a rally that included the local House Representative along with Gov. Kate Brown... at SEIU’s Salem headquarters. I don’t know about you, but I know very few organizations that can make a call to the governor and have her come right over -- except SEIU. The piece I had published highlighted the detail for what it was…SEIU holds the power in this state and the governor knows it.

Here is a link to the piece: Special interests know unions, not government, wield the real power in Oregon.

Of course the comments will always have union minions coming out of their dark places spewing the typical union lines of "Koch brother funded (insert nasty website about Freedom Foundation)...." They never ever engage in the actual topic. They know if they engage in the actual topic, they will lose. Of course, calling out unions for their unchecked power in Oregon is a bad thing to union minions. I expect nothing less.

What you won't see on the piece is the numerous readers and union members who then emailed me thanking me for the piece:

-- "I loved your recent article about unions running state government rather than elected officials. You're right on the money. Please keep up the great work."

-- "Excellent job of telling it as it is. Keep it up as without people like you this state and nation have no hope. Best article I've read in years. Thank you."

-- "Wow! Thanks for the common sense."

-- "I was a union rep for years. It's a racket! Unions are a thing of the past."

We know that the unions are not done with M97-esque policies. We know they are going to continue press for a huge tax increase in Oregon to help pay for their policy of growing government. Unions don’t see sharpening pencils and cutting as an option for economizing, just simply grow taxes and government -- and growing their forced membership rolls. As I talk with people all over Oregon, their pockets have no more room for Oregon government and government unions to draw from. We will continue to press on the gas pedal of labor reform in Oregon -- including any tax ideas they have that would hand them more power. We will continue to call them out for their capacious spending and monopoly over government workers who would choose to not associate with them if given the chance. We will continue to bring freedom to Oregon.

~ ~ ~

Thank you for your ongoing, strident commitment to freedom. At Freedom Foundation, while everyone is shutting off the lights and relaxing after the election, we are not. Every day we strive to let union members know their Constitutional rights regarding their membership, we defend them in court when their rights are trampled, and every day is a good day when a person is freed from union tyranny.

We at Freedom in Action filed our fourth lawsuit this year in federal court against the state of Oregon and SEIU for making it near impossible for union members to exercise their Constitutional rights. It is galling to see how the unions just simply create exceptions for themselves and the state just follows their orders. We are calling them out on it, and this will not be the first time we do so. Click here for the press release that went out November 3rd.

There are many, many more lawsuits in the works. If all goes as planned, there will be another before the New Year.

We won't stop. We work every day with our foot on the floor of the gas pedal making our education of union members and the public of what a crazy union monopoly state we live in.

~ ~ ~

If you like what we do, please consider us in your charitable giving as you look at your year-end giving. Every dollar we spend, our goal is to make sure it costs government unions ten dollars. Every hundred we spend, it better cost them a thousand. We have cost government unions close to $9 million in Washington state this year, and the tally is still being totaled in Oregon.

From , of the

Mt. Hood Republican Women and friends, I do have sad news to bring you. Our long time member and past president, Marion Jacobs passed away November 26, 2016 at 7:30 pm. Her two daughters, Jennifer and Christine were with her. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 1, at 11 AM, at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 West Powell in Gresham. All are welcome to attend.

I have received no information regarding remembrances or donations in her name as yet. I would suggest a card to her two daughters in care of Marion's address, with your messages of caring, sympathy and prayers.

Marion is now at peace and free of all worries. We thank God for this.
