Executive  Club  Meeting!
7:00 pm  •  Wednesday November 2nd  •  Airport Shilo Inn

There's a monster trying to have its way with Oregon's economy,
hatched from the minds of Oregon public employee unions,
formed with DNA from one of the Great Lies of Liberalism

"Corporations aren't paying their fair share"

fed with the signatures of compliant voters unaware
of one of the Great Truths of Conservatism

"Businesses do not -- cannot -- pay taxes.
Their customers pay their taxes."

Our FIRST speaker this month leads the fight against this fire-breathing beast,
with a war chest commensurate with the stakes for Oregon's economy,
(Click here for Oregonian article on the campaign costs)
and the backing of every major newspaper in the state.

Rebecca Tweed
Godzilla 97

Rebecca Tweed is the Campaign Coordinator for
Defeat The Tax On Oregon Sales,
the official statewide coalition of Oregon consumers, taxpayers,
small and large businesses, associations and organizations who
have joined together to oppose Measure 97, the $6 billion tax on
Oregon sales on 2016 state ballot.

Remember the July meeting? I told the story -- absolutely true --
of how my uncle told me that Great Truth -- "businesses pay no taxes"
-- proving my status as a complete idiot about economics in 30 seconds
and changed my life.

Remember how that led me to the conclusion:
"All taxes tax the poor, because no matter who writes the check,
the poor ultimately pay the price"
?

This horrible creation from the depths of liberalism is the perfect
demonstration of that outcome, for it literally does exactly that --
in the first cycle, taxing the poor immediately.

We MUST defeat this ill-conceived child of liberal union greed.

But there's more: our SECOND speaker brings an update on the Republican
candidates in Oregon and the strategy of the ORP to elect them.

Bill Currier

Bill Currier

Bill is Chair of the Oregon Republican Party, and was a delegate
at the RNC 2016 convention. In his other life he serves as the mayor
of Adair Village, Oregon, and is the co-owner of TRACO Network Services
and SYNERGY Technology Partners.

He'll have the perspective and the data for the races.

Join us Wednesday night. It'll be a doozie.

Submitting Followup Information

Executive Club passes on meeting followup information as a courtesy to our speakers and members. Any member or speaker may submit, by email, a simple update text presentation to be sent to the club mailing list, to give the membership to have more details, or just a recap of your platform presentation. To be considered for publication, please be sure to submit your update within 24 hours of the close of the meeting. Please don't include any pictures in your text, but links to web pages, or links to things stored elsewhere on the web -- .pdf files, Word documents, or even pictures -- are OK now. Formatting and inserted pictures will not be copied, just the text content, so please don't use 4 fonts and 6 colors to convey your thoughts: you will be disappointed. Look at a previous followup email, or the bottom of most of the invitation emails, to see how they are presented. The simpler and cleaner your text, the more likely it will appear exactly the same in the email we send out. Each update must also indicate the author's name and contact information -- either a phone number, email address, or website with contact information. We reserve the right to edit for brevity, or reject, any submission.

From Anne Marie Gurney (503-901-5635), Oregon Coordinator of Freedom in Action.

Last week was great for freedom and a third thing will be happening this week. I want to share this good news with you.

First, The Oregonian published a commentary piece regarding research we have done in Washington and replicated in Oregon, and it should anger anyone reading it. A comparison of teachers who have been fired for committing egregious crimes against children, while on the job as a public school teacher, are also receiving very generous pension checks. When we exposed this injustice two years ago, a teacher's union spokesperson publicly stated this story was a "non issue" and a "distraction".

Our work in Oregon showed almost identical results. Teachers with horrifying histories of victimizing kids are now living wealthy on the dime of taxpayers. To us, this seems like a really easy step towards PERS reform...but we all know that will require the will of the OEA to allow it to either be implemented in bargaining agreements or passed through the legislature. Anything less than pension forfeiture laws on this issue, to us, is not a solution.

Second, be sure to check out a billboard we have posted for the next 30 days near exit 260B southbound. I have attached a photo with the story. Basically a top assistant to AG Rosenblum, in a well-attended meeting with Freedom Foundation staff in July, made it clear her office does not believe informing home care workers of their Constitutional rights is in the public interest. We couldn't let it go. Every day for the next month, as she and her colleagues take the Salem Parkway exit to reach her office in Salem, she will be reminded of her absurd words.

I'll keep you posted on our third surprise coming this week.

We won't stop. We work every day with our foot on the floor of the gas pedal making our education of union members and the public of what a crazy union monopoly state we live in.

If you like what we do, please consider us in your charitable giving as you look at your year-end giving. Every dollar we spend, our goal is to make sure it costs government unions ten dollars. Every hundred we spend, it better cost them a thousand. We have cost government unions close to $9 million in Washington state this year, and the tally is still being totaled in Oregon.

M97 is being foisted upon us by the government unions for one purpose. We appropriately refer to it as "union membership drive 2016". By having 17k more public employees, who will be required to pay forced dues, conservatively it means unions will have $8 million plus in their already stuffed coffers to continue to wreck the havoc they do on our legislative sessions and election. Until we turn off that faucet of money flow, we will always be swimming upstream.

Tigard Mayor Cook is all wrong about light rail and its impacts

Tigard Mayor John L. Cook has kicked off his campaign to persuade voters to approve MAX light rail in November. As usual, the fallacious message is a parroting of how light rail will reduce congestion in Tigard. Over and over again that will be the drumbeat of the yes campaign.

The immense deceit involved with such claims cannot be overstated. Cook and other light rail proponents do not want congestion relief.
