Executive  Club  Meeting  ( Part  2 )
7:00 pm •  Wednesday May 4th •  Airport Shilo Inn

OK, OK, I've just got to do it (again!):
Q: How would a Jedi with a lisp greet you at our next meeting?
A: "May the 4th be with you!"

Now back to business. We tried, OK, we really tried:
Gubernatorial debate between the most likely GOP candidates,
with perfect timing: ballots in ...

STOP THE PRESSES! ... STOP THE PRESSES! ... NEWS FLASH!

Allen Alley has had a schedule change, and will also speak at our My 4th meeting!

Allen Alley
In July, Allen was not so sure about making another run for governor.
Later, he said he wasn't going to do it.
But times and circumstances change, and he's back in for the win.

He's a successful entrepreneur, free-market capitalist,
husband and father, once the Republican candidate for Treasurer,
for a time Chairman of the Oregon Republican Party,
and he has the experience of running for Governor once already.
Not to mention a self-processed "nerd" (we are a feisty breed).

He also served in Kulongoski's administration as Deputy Chief of Staff
-- A spy behind enemy lines? Trenchcoat and miniature camera? --
rattling their thinking by inserting economic reality into tax and spend fantasies.

A guy who can point out the folly of current policy and new legislation,
like a state-run (another oxymoron!) retirement system,
higher minimum wages that clobber minority employment,
and that crazy make-me-a-felon-please gun transfer law.

Hey! Maybe that's what changed his mind!
More insanity from this last tweaking-gone-mad, short-but-deadly session,
condemning the poor to even less competitiveness for jobs,
while offering them 40% increases in power costs.
(Germany calls that situation "heat or eat")

Or was it continued contemplation of past follies: Metro. TriMet. PERS.
State-wide land use planning. Unfunded pensions across the state.
For crying out loud WES! The Convention Center Hotel!

Or maybe it was relishing the opportunity to remind Kate Brown that
having Comcast write a letter for her to sign -- lobbying for
Comcast's Time-Warner bid while Comcast donates to her campaigns --
isn't exactly transparent and ethical governance.

Oh, yeah! Let's not forget the opportunity for a fellow
-- who has experience adding value to employees and customers --
to challenge Kate -- who only has experience taking value from taxpayers --
that maybe we SHOULDN'T be "first in the nation" in being anti-business,
anti-prosperity, anti-civility, anti-employment, while
funnelling almost all state spending through partisan union hands.

So many negatives for Brown, it's just hard to know where to start.
-- Continuing to defy the people by refusing to allow just executions.
-- Betrayal of her own Democrat allies on PERS reform.
-- Cute little election shift to favor friend Brad Avakian.

I'd say he has enough reasons to run again, wouldn't you?

Heaven knows, Oregon can't take much more of what we've got.

Now we get the opportunity to compare and contrast two men.
Heal Oregon by rewiring and reprogramming government?
Heal Oregon by carving the cancer out of it? Both?

Join us Wednesday night, May 4th, and decide.

Submitting Followup Information

Executive Club passes on meeting followup information as a courtesy to our speakers and members. Any member or speaker may submit, by email, a simple update text presentation to be sent to the club mailing list, to give the membership to have more details, or just a recap of your platform presentation. To be considered for publication, please be sure to submit your update within 24 hours of the close of the meeting. Please don't include any pictures in your text, but links to web pages, or links to things stored elsewhere on the web -- .pdf files, Word documents, or even pictures -- are OK now. Formatting and inserted pictures will not be copied, just the text content, so please don't use 4 fonts and 6 colors to convey your thoughts: you will be disappointed. Look at a previous followup email, or the bottom of most of the invitation emails, to see how they are presented. The simpler and cleaner your text, the more likely it will appear exactly the same in the email we send out. Each update must also indicate the author's name and contact information -- either a phone number, email address, or website with contact information. We reserve the right to edit for brevity, or reject, any submission.

From Darrell Gulstrom (503-332-5836)

Article IV, Section 4, begins with: "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government."

Isn't part of the that Republican Form of Government a procedure for amendment, which includes the right of states to amend the Constitution? Then for states to have governance modelled after the federal Constitution, shouldn't the political subdivisions of states -- counties -- also have that right of amendment to their state's Constitution?

Please read the proposal, here: CONVENTION OF THE COUNTIES.

Please contact me by phone (503-332-5836) or email to ddgulstrom@yahoo.com to comment or assist in promoting this idea.

From Anne Marie Gurney (503-901-5635), Oregon Coordinator of Freedom Foundation.

The Freedom Foundation is pleased to announce the First Annual Freedom Foundation Dinner Event on June 24th at 6:30 pm. We are excited to have an amazing line-up of speakers:

Steve Forbes, chairman of Forbes Media and two-time candidate for president, will be the keynote speaker.

Other speakers include:

Rebecca Friedrichs, plaintiff in Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, the just-decided U.S. Supreme Court case dealing with mandatory union membership for government employees; and, Dr. Eric Fruits, adjunct professor of economics, finance and statistics at the University of Portland, who will discuss Oregon’s economic malaise.

We are excited to continue to press on the gas of such issues as labor reform, worker choice and freedom in Oregon.

I would like to personally invite you to join us for what is sure to be a special and memorable evening. There are many ways to join us not just that evening and to invite additional guests you think might like to "meet" Freedom Foundation and hear not only about our aggressive mission but also our success in Oregon in the first year we've been here.

Click on the link below for more information about the speakers, sponsoring, prices and ticketing. This event will sell out, and I wanted you to be one of the first to be able to reserve you and your guests' seating.

From Sharon Nasset, candidate for House District 44

I am running in State House Representative District 44 to unseat Rep Tina Kotek, and I am asking for your help.

If you know anyone in District 44, please ask them to vote for me in Primary and write my name in if it is not on their ballot.

Please contact me if you can:
-- help by walking out fliers,
-- help by spending an afternoon driving walkers around,
-- help by making a donation

We have a real chance of winning by getting out and asking for the vote... turns out that not many people like Rep. Kotek, and many did not know she will not meet with constituents, community leaders, or citizens who have concerns on a range of issues.

Please contact me by email at sharonnasset@aol.com or visit Electnasset.com
