Executive Club Meeting
7:00 pm • Wednesday October 7th • Airport Shilo Inn
I've had a Beach Boys tune running through my head for a WEEK,
just thinking about October 7th. More about that, later.
So, ever caught yourself thinking about Washington, DC? About Congress?
About the bureaucracy? The you're-kidding-me-that's-huge! Federal Register?
The cabinet with secretaries and under-secretaries? CIA/FBI/NSA? IRS!?
The Environmental Pollution Administration, with their latest Western heavy metal hit?
The you-have-to-laugh-or-you'd-cry "Justice" Department?
About the please-God-save-us-they're-nuts White House, with our own special
"Baghdad Bob" feeding us lines -- you can leave out the "n" -- about
Iran/Syria/ISIL/Israel/al Qaeda/Houthi rebels?
About our Putin-whipped (Kenyan Ayers-buddy) POTUS?
Ever asked yourself, "What planet are these folks living on?"
Well, you were right. They're NOT on Earth, and we have PROOF!
Remember Baghdad Bob doing a press conference, talking about Iraqi victory...
as U.S. tanks were rolling into Baghdad in the background of the video shot?
Move over, Bob, 'cause we have Josh Earnest, assuring us that ISIL is on the run...
while ISIL terrorists are being ushered into our country and Europe as refugees!
What planet ARE these folks living on, really?
Is earnest Earnest proof enough? No? Well, then, welcome back our speaker:
John Fund
John Fund has reported from Washington for 30 years.
(By subspace radio, my sons assure me. Regular radio
would take longer than that just to GET to earth.)
He believes it is best understood as an "alien planet," where the conventional
laws of economics, common sense, propriety and good taste are frequently suspended.
He will give us a tour of Washington from an insiders eye,
including a keen look at the current presidential field.
Formerly on the WSJ editorial board, John is now national-affairs columnist for
National Review Online, and a senior editor at The American Spectator.
Earth-grounded, you could say.
He leaves afterwards for a return to that dark planet (Warp factor 9?),
but October 7th (here come those Beach Boys):
We'll have Fund, Fund, Fund,
until the Shilo takes the buffet away-ay-ay-ay.
You know the tune. Go ahead: Try NOT to hum it all week!
Then join us and our co-host Cascade Policy Institute Wednesday night,
for a travelogue about a planet where power is the air, money, the water,
and gravitas is the only thing that keeps people from floating away.

Submitting Followup Information
Executive Club passes on meeting followup information as a courtesy to our speakers and members. Any member or speaker may submit, by email, a simple update text presentation to be sent to the club mailing list, to give the membership to have more details, or just a recap of your platform presentation. To be considered for publication, please be sure to submit your update within 24 hours of the close of the meeting. Please don't include any pictures in your text, but links to web pages, or links to things stored elsewhere on the web -- .pdf files, Word documents, or even pictures -- are OK now. Formatting and inserted pictures will not be copied, just the text content, so please don't use 4 fonts and 6 colors to convey your thoughts: you will be disappointed. Look at a previous followup email, or the bottom of most of the invitation emails, to see how they are presented. The simpler and cleaner your text, the more likely it will appear exactly the same in the email we send out. Each update must also indicate the author's name and contact information -- either a phone number, email address, or website with contact information. We reserve the right to edit for brevity, or reject, any submission.

Dear Friends & Supporters,
It is with excitement that I am running for Clackamas County Commission Position No. 3 against Commissioner Martha Schrader.
Our Campaign Rally is at the Monarch Hotel on October 22nd. We have a great lineup of speakers and entertainment.
We will have lots of excellent food and a host of friends and supporters. Please see
this flyer for more details.
We are asking for a modest and suggested contribution of $25 per person. (No one will be turned away.) As campaign expenses and costs are significant, we are hopeful that many will be able to contribute more.
Remember that your first $50 per person political contribution each year qualifies for an Oregon State Tax Credit if your income is below $100,000 (single) or $200,000 (joint).
If you are unable to join us, please go to our website at www.electstevebates.com and donate by credit card.
Come and share our evening with us. Come and help us start the campaign that will lead to victory next May.
Thanks so much,
Steve

Submitting Lost and Found Information
Executive Club passes on meeting lost and found information as a courtesy to our speakers and members. Any member or speaker may submit, by email, a simple description of the item which -- or person who -- has been either lost or found, to be sent to the club mailing list. To be considered for publication, please be sure to submit your description before the trail goes cold. Please include any pictures in your text, as well as links to helpful, identifying web pages. Please: no requests for help in actually LOSING something or someone; please take of such situations yourself. Each L&F description must also indicate the author's name and contact information -- either a phone number, email address, or website with contact information. We reserve the right to edit for brevity, or reject, any submission, and we may just keep stuff we really like.
