What? *NO* Executive Club Meeting?
7:00 pm on Wednesday August 5th at the Airport Shilo Inn...
...will be... TOO QUIET!
And the cigar room? Empty, smokeless....
Because we won't BE there!
What is it about August, that half the world thinks they should be at the beach, or wandering the countryside with distant relatives?
It's as if the sunshine means there are no political roaches to flush from the baseboards!
Does the thought of it make you listless? That's withdrawal.
That first little trembling at the thought that liberals
are still organizing the demise of modern civilization?
That's a warning that you need good, conservative brain food!
Awakening to no news about Kitzhaber and Hayes being pursued by Lady Justice,
and too much news about Obama's latest attempt at coronation.
(Oh, yeah, he really said he could be a fine three-termer!)
Those are signs that we still have lots of work to do.
But there is hope. Cascade Policy is not on vacation.
And they offer red meat to Oregon's hungry conservatives, mid-month.
Meet Mark Skousen
(PhD, economics, George Washington University)
One of the most influential living economists in the world today,
and a son of Portland who escaped Oregon's liberalism.
Hey, have lunch with him, even:
Friday, August 14, 2015 • 11:30am – 1:00pm • Ernesto’s Italian Restaurant
Mark will feed your brain.
Ernesto's, the rest of you, for a moderate fee.
Topics:
What Hidden Forces Lead to Economic Growth
and a Higher Standard of Living?
and
Why are some countries rich and others poor?
Keep your political muscles toned.

Submitting Followup Information
Executive Club passes on meeting followup information as a courtesy to our speakers and members. Any member or speaker may submit, by email, a simple update text presentation to be sent to the club mailing list, to give the membership to have more details, or just a recap of your platform presentation. To be considered for publication, please be sure to submit your update within 24 hours of the close of the meeting. Please don't include any pictures in your text, but links to web pages, or links to things stored elsewhere on the web -- .pdf files, Word documents, or even pictures -- are OK now. Formatting and inserted pictures will not be copied, just the text content, so please don't use 4 fonts and 6 colors to convey your thoughts: you will be disappointed. Look at a previous followup email, or the bottom of most of the invitation emails, to see how they are presented. The simpler and cleaner your text, the more likely it will appear exactly the same in the email we send out. Each update must also indicate the author's name and contact information -- either a phone number, email address, or website with contact information. We reserve the right to edit for brevity, or reject, any submission.

On August 12, TriMet will hold a so-called "public hearing" on its plan to jack up the employer payroll tax rate.
Wednesday, August 12, 2015 • 9 a.m. •
City of Portland Bldg. Auditorium
I encourage EC members to grab their wordsmithing pitchforks and rhetorical buckets of hot tar.
This is a total rip-off.
Please click here to read my latest critique (updated from what I passed out last month).
Riled up enough to try to change the outcome? Then attend the meeting
Can't attend the hearing? Then file comments electronically
(see procedures, here),
write letters to the editor,
and/or lobby their own trade associations such as PBA, CCA, or CEIC.
