The Freedom Foundation is a regional think and action tank dedicated to removing government unions influence on the political cycle
This month SEIU 503 finished their nationwide search to find their new executive director. They looked no further than their previous political director, Melissa Unger. This says a lot about the direction that SEIU, the states largest government union, and the direction that they want to head in light of the Janus decision coming through the Supreme Court. Recognize the last name Unger? You may, her brother is the executive director of the union funded group, Our Oregon. Nothing like keeping it in the family, let's see if she can last longer in their than her predecessor, who barely broke 12 months.
Here at the Freedom Foundation we are also gearing up for the groundbreaking Supreme Court case, Janus v. AFSCME, that is expected to grant national right to work to all states. For Oregon this will mean that finally government employees can no longer be forced to pay dues to a union as a condition of employment. We've developed our message, and this will be the start of the end for government unions reign in Oregon.
We currently have 5 ongoing lawsuits with unions in Oregon. Stay tuned to hear more about our battles in the courtroom and on the ground.
