Finally, here’s the quote I read from Tuesday’s Oregonian article about why Mayor Hales and Steve Novick didn't both attend a recent street fee meeting:

"Chris Warner, Novick's chief of staff, said Hales' ally on the street fee didn't attend Monday's meeting because it wasn't necessary to have both politicians there. 'I don't think we need to be Abbott and Costello,' Warner said. 'Abbott and Costello can go to different meetings.'"

Watch Abbot and Costello do math.

From Roxanne Ross

Our court date is approaching. We will before Multnomah County Circuit Court on SW 4th downtown Portland for our lawsuit Ross vs Multnomah County #1307-10002. We won't know the time or the room number until Tuesday.

We are asking for a declaratory judgement to find out if the Multnomah County gun ordinance, passed in April 2013, applies within the the incorporated cities of East County without those cities also adopting the ordinance. We are also asking for an injunction against the county. City attorneys have said that it is not applicable within their cities, but the county attorneys say that it is. Multnomah County had passed a gun control ordinance similar to the Portland ordinance passed in 2010. This is a huge overreach by Multnomah County that has not been attempted by another county in Oregon. We acknowledge the county's authority to make police powers ordinances for unincorporated Multnomah County, but we object to their power grab in Gresham, Fairview, Wood Village, Troutdale, and Maywood Park. It pits home rule county against home rule city. If this overreach is allowed to continue, there could be all sorts of ordinances the county could pass to impose liberal Portland policies on East County such as a plastic bag ban and mandatory sick leave.

We won't know the hearing room number or the time until Tuesday the 8th. Plaintiffs include Frank Martin, Cheryl Bowen, Frank Grande, Brian Grattan and Roxanne Ross, and we are represented by Bruce McCain. If you would like to know the room and time for the hearing, contact Roxanne Ross by email at greshamteaparty@aol.com or by phone at 503-667-1328.
